About the area
Location is everything at croft 3! The croft leads right down to a pristine white beach. To get there you walk along a wooden walkway through the croft surrounded by wildlife. There is a small gate at the bottom leading you through our wild flower meadow to a network of white sandy beaches, rocky Islands and pools. It is approximately 400 m from the yurt to the beach. The white sand shelves gently making it a very safe place for playing, swimming and boating.
The village of Arisaig is two miles away along quiet single track road. There you will find a small shop, PO, two cafés, two hotels, sea kayak hire centre and a pub. Regular live music evenings are held at the pub. There is also a local information centre and wild life cruises to the Small Isles.
The small town of Mallaig is six miles further along the coast. Mallaig is a busy fishing port and Marina. It has two small food stores, several hotels and cafes, an indoor swimming pool and gym and a ferry terminal. From Mallaig you can catch ferries to the Isle of Skye, the Small Isles and Knoydart.
Along the coast there are many beautiful white beaches including the famous Camusdarach and the white sands of Morar. Loch Morar, the deepest Loch in Europe (and home to the Loch Morar monster!) is also just six miles away.
There are lots of coastal and hill walks in the vicinity, on the islands and Knoydart -we can advise you and lend you maps.
